Matt Barton

Matt Barton is a
consultant with diverse experience in the aviation sector. Since
joining the industry in 1999, he has completed projects for
airports, airlines, vendors, and financiers.
Matt joined GCW in
2003. His work with the firm has included hub development for the
airport authorities in Beijing and Shanghai and international route
development strategy for a major Chinese airline. Working from the
firm’s London office, Matt advised a growing international airline
during the successful acquisition of slots at London’s Heathrow
Airport.
Matt has extensively
studied the dynamics of the air transport industry, and has provided
market analysis for the development of new commercial airframes. He
also assisted a U.K. low-cost carrier in strategic route analysis
and assessed the feasibility of a long-range business jet charter
service. While at US Airways, Matt helped the company introduce new
trans-Atlantic routes that survived the 2001-2003 slump in air
travel.
In previous lives,
Matt completed redevelopment studies for US Air Force bases, wrote
plans for technology business incubators, unearthed a Neolithic
settlement during an archaeological dig in Syria, and managed a ski
rental shop near Lake Tahoe, California.
Matt holds an MBA
from London Business School with a concentration in finance. He
graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Santa
Cruz, with a BA in History. Although he was born in Hong Kong, Matt
speaks native English and fluent German.
