Ryan Kim
Consultant and Global Airline Alliance Analyst

Ryan Kim joined GCW’s Shanghai office as a
consultant in May, 2004 and has since moved to the firm's Arlington,
Va. office.
At GCW, his work has included network
development strategy for major Chinese and foreign carriers as well
as start-up low-cost carriers, and hub development projects for the
airport authorities in China. In addition, he participated in an air
service marketing project for a major European airport and advised a
Chinese carrier during the negotiation for a strategic partnership
with a foreign carrier.
Before joining GCW, Ryan worked for Asiana
Airlines in South Korea as an alliance executive for three years.
During his career at Asiana, Ryan was responsible for researching
and analyzing global airline industry and network data. Also he
managed codeshare agreements with major global carriers including
All Nippon Airways, Singapore Airlines, Qantas Airways, United
Airlines and all three major Chinese carriers – Air China, China
Eastern and China Southern.
Additionally, Ryan managed Asiana Airlines’
strategic planning and implementation of global alliance integration
project into the Star Alliance in early 2003. For over a year, Ryan
served as project coordinator, which helped Asiana complete its Star
Alliance integration project in just eight months.
Ryan received his B.A. degree in the German
language and literature as well as Journalism & Mass Communications
at Korea University in 2000.

As an intermediate photographer, Ryan
takes documentary and landscape pictures during his spare time. Ryan
also participated in publication of a book, named “Berlin, still
under Construction” which has real experiences of university
students in Korea, the world’s only divided country about
post-effects of Germany’s reunification.
