(LAS VEGAS – Oct. 12,
2005) Las Vegas McCarran International Airport today announced it
will host a special panel of airline industry leaders from the
People’s Republic of China to discuss the emergence of low-cost
carriers in China at its Las Vegas World Aviation Forum being held
October 24-26.
The panel, entitled
“LCCs and the PRC – Will Low-Cost Carriers Work in China?” will be
held Wednesday, Oct. 26 and feature top executives from major and
new low-fare Chinese carriers and officials from the Civil Aviation
Administration of China. It will discuss matters such as China’s
regulatory environment and whether Chinese low-cost carriers will
adopt a European/North American model or develop a new one. The
panel will be held in Mandarin, with simultaneous translation into
English. Audience members will be able to participate in a question
and answer period with panelists."
“Clearly, China is
one of the most important aviation markets in the world today – and
one of the most rapidly evolving. It is a rare privilege to be
hosting, as part of the Las Vegas World Aviation Forum, a unique
opportunity to talk about the future of this market with Chinese
airline industry leaders at a gathering on this side of the
Pacific,” said Director of Aviation for Las Vegas McCarran, Randall
H. Walker.
In its Current Market
Outlook, Boeing Commercial Airplanes forecast air travel growth in
China to outpace gross domestic product (GDP) growth over the next
20 years. The company forecasts air travel for all markets to, from
and within China to grow 7.3 percent per year – including domestic
growth of 8.8 percent.
Other confirmed
panelists for the event include several Asia-Pacific airline
leaders, including Association of Asia Pacific Airlines Director
General Andrew Herdman, Air Macau CEO David Fei, Wow! Macau Managing
Director Andrew Pyne, and Indigo Partners Managing Partner Bill
Franke. (Indigo Partners is the major investor in Singapore’s new
low-fare carrier Tiger Airways and Poland’s Wizz Air.)
The Las Vegas World
Aviation Forum will bring together industry leaders – including
executives from airlines, airports, vendors and governments – from
around the world. The Forum is informal, with no lengthy
presentations and a conversational format designed to foster
discussion, provoke debate and elicit ideas. The audience is
encouraged to participate, as some of the industry’s most important
stakeholders candidly discuss the day’s hot issues for commercial
aviation executives.

Aviation Forum is being co-organized by GCW Consulting, a strategic
