New Airbus
North America, ACI Chiefs to Participate
in Las Vegas World Aviation Forum in October
Forum to be among the first public appearances for two industry
leaders
(LAS
VEGAS – Sept. 7, 2005) – Las Vegas McCarran International Airport
today
announced that the new chief executives for Airbus North America and
Airports Council
International – North America will participate as panelists at the
inaugural Las Vegas
World Aviation Forum, to be held this Oct. 24-26 in Las Vegas.
The Las
Vegas Forum, themed “An Industry Turned Upside Down,” will be among
the
first public appearances for new Airbus North America Chief
Executive Barry Eccelston
and Airports Council International – North America President Greg
Principato. Both
have recently been named to the top North American positions at
their organizations.
“The
early commercial aviation pioneers like Juan Trippe and Howard
Hughes would
barely recognize the industry of today,” said the airport’s Director
of Aviation Randall H.
Walker. “Even the most casual observer, considering the events and
changes of recent
years, would have to conclude that our industry truly is ‘turned
upside down,’ which
makes it a fitting theme for our inaugural aviation event.”
“While
some airlines, airports and vendors are enjoying record success,
others face their
toughest challenges in many years,” added GCW Consulting President
and CEO Mo
Garfinkle. “In October, leaders from these organizations will meet
in Las Vegas to
candidly discuss their successes and failures, and debate strategies
for the future.”
Other
confirmed panelists include:
-
B.
Ben Baldanza – Spirit Airlines, Chief Operating Officer
-
Andrew T. Cahn – British Airways, Director of Government and
Industry Affairs
-
Robert Fornaro – AirTran Airways, President and Chief Operating
Officer
-
Hwang Teng Aun – Singapore Airlines Cargo, President
-
Doug
Parker – new merged US Airways, Chairman, President and CEO
More
information about the Forum, including registration information, is
available on the
event’s Web site at www.LasVegasAviationForum.com, where additional
panelists will
be announced in coming weeks.
The Las
Vegas World Aviation Forum will bring together industry leaders –
including
executives from airlines, airports, vendors and governments – from
around the world.
The
Forum is informal, with no lengthy presentations and a
conversational format
designed to foster discussion, provoke debate and elicit ideas. The
audience is
encouraged to participate, as some of the industry’s most important
stakeholders
candidly discuss the day’s hot issues for commercial aviation
executives.
Forum
panel will discuss topics that include bankruptcy and government
support for
airlines; the viability of hub systems in today’s environment;
airport infrastructure as
traffic recovers from Sept. 11 and the war in Iraq; the future of
low-cost carriers in new
frontiers; and the state of labor relations in the airline industry
today.
The Las
Vegas World Aviation Forum is being co-organized by GCW Consulting,
a
strategic consultancy for organizations in the aviation sector and a
pioneer of similar
events in the United States and China.
